About the Candidates

Robin Lois– https://robinlois.com

Robin was elected Dutchess County Comptroller in 2017.  She  has served in that role since 2018, providing residents the transparency and oversight that she promised. She has conducted 22 audits, providing the results to the residents in a timely and accessible manner. Robin oversees and scrutinizes how every tax dollar is spent, eliminating “rubber stamping.” Robin has demonstrated her ability to be a clear communicator with the taxpayers, along with working alongside the departments in the county government to develop more efficient and economical processes.

Tyler Irish- https://www.tylerirish4dutchess.com

Tyler is a lifelong resident of Dover who understands the needs of the residents of Dover and Union Vale. He wants to bring jobs to the area by focusing on our assets, such as the natural environment, farming and outdoor recreation, to encourage individuals and businesses to remain in Dutchess County. As a tradesperson himself, he acknowledges the value and importance of these career paths and will find ways to increase opportunities for interested residents. Tyler also wants to bring greater resources and services to the rural communities of Union Vale and Dover. In addition, Tyler will focus on protecting our natural resources and ensuring the quality of our air and water.

Barbara Walsh- https://www.votebarbarawalsh.com/home

A Dutchess County resident for 42 years, Barbara has remained active after she retired from her career as an educator. Her volunteer efforts have led her to be passionate about social justice reform and common sense gun laws. She is co-chair of Hudson Valley Strong Indivisible and she is an advocate for her fellow Beekman residents on town issues. Barbara would like to serve as a DC legislator to ensure available funding goes to residents who need assistance to provide food, clothing and shelter to their families, to provide pathways for young people to pursue green jobs/careers, and to move Dutchess County forward in setting fossil-fuel reduction targets. Barbara is also a strong advocate of fair redistricting.

Tom Davis– https://www.friendsofdavisforjustice.com

Tom brings 29 years of experience as a lawyer, representing far more individuals than corporations. He believes that every individual who comes before the justice system deserves “respect, compassion and fairness.” He is an advocate for the disabled, having served as a trustee of the Down’s Syndrome Association of the Hudson Valley and he is currently a member of the Executive Committee of Abilities First, Inc.  Tom is a graduate of the New England School of Law.

Rachel Saunders– https://rachelforfamilycourt.com

Rachel’s varied career experiences demonstrate her commitment to helping others in need, especially those less able to advocate for themselves. As a new lawyer, she worked as a public defender in the Legal Aid Society in the Bronx. She spent two years in Afghanistan working with the International Legal Foundation and the US Department of State. Upon her return, she used her expertise to help the most vulnerable populations, such as victims of domestic violence and people with chronic mental illness. Her most recent work was with Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, providing services to low-income individuals. Rachel has mentored and trained lawyers to be sensitive to issues of trauma and crisis and she received an Athena Award from the Dutchess County Chamber of Commerce for her work and mentorship with women and girls.
