Library Info

May 2, 2022

The library consultant hired by the town has been conducting Zoom and in-person meetings to get feedback from the residents about the prospect of building a library in Tymor Park. Many residents have expressed concerns about the cost of building and maintaining a library (materials, staff, technology, programs, etc.). Current library users have stated that they are happy with our neighboring libraries, which in many cases are more convenient than traveling to Tymor. They question why we would incur the cost and responsibilities of running our own library- which could take years to become fully chartered- when we have libraries so close by. The concern has also been raised about what library services would be available in the interim. Union Vale declined to sign the contract with MHLS for 2020 and 2021 and we have been placed on restricted services with our neighboring libraries. For more information go to:

If you want to add your voice to the conversation, the last ZOOM meetings with the library consultant are scheduled for May 9 at 5:00 and 7:00.  The in-person meeting will be on May 14 at the Tymor Park Senior Center. Contact Laura Sumner (library@unionvaleny.us) if you need help signing-up for the ZOOM meetings. RSVP to Laura by 5/8 for the 5/14 meeting.
