  • For the third year in a row, Union Vale is not paying any of the neighboring towns for the use of their libraries. Since 2021, residents have had restricted services at the libraries where they used to have full privileges. Superintendent Maas has promised to schedule community forums, run by a paid consultant, to explore options, including building our own library at Tymor Park. A previous presentation from an architect estimated the building cost at 1.5 million dollars.  Additional money would be needed for books, media, computers, furniture, staff, etc. Be on the lookout for announcements about these forums and attend to make your voice heard.
  • The UV town board has been looking to fill vacancies on the Planning Board. When no one reached out to serve, the town board planned to vote on a resolution which would allow a non-resident of Union Vale to serve on the board. Recently, though, some residents have expressed an interest in serving on the board which should make the resolution unnecessary. If you agree that seats on the Planning Board should be filled by willing and competent residents, please contact the members of the town board.
  • The Conservation Advisory Council is also seeking volunteers to serve on their committee. Visit the town website for more details.

  • On the state and national level, Governor Hochul recently signed into law New York State’s redistricting map. As it stands, Union Vale will now be part of Congressional District 18 which is currently served by Sean Patrick Maloney.
